After two years of being apart, the franchisees at a multi-award-winning network were delighted to be back together, creating a buzz, and sharing the amazing successes that were achieved despite the challenges. Razzamataz Theatre Schools welcomed back franchisees to their annual Conference, which was held in the heart of theatre land at the Prince of Wales Theatre on 1st February.
The Conference focused on the ways in which franchisees can best connect with their students, families and teams as well as making sure they are making the most of the many benefits of being part of a well-established franchise.
Why join a franchise?
“Being part of a franchise gives our theatre school owners access to so much training and support that they would not be able to access if they were an independent,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz. “This in turn gives their customers the peace of mind to know that they are sending their children to a school with consistent and up to date audits on a wide range of issues and a huge range of opportunities that they would unlikely be able to receive elsewhere.”
Guest speakers were invited to inspire and offer the latest information to franchisees to enable them to grow their schools, increase opportunities for their students and connect further with their communities.
Developing theatre school owners
Industry experts also provided an insight into their areas of expertise to ensure the franchisees can cover a whole range of needs and requirements. Richard Hayhow from Open Theatre spoke about the importance of theatre arts for children with additional needs because it helps them develop the skills, abilities, and qualities that they need to survive and thrive as they transition into adulthood.
Adam Milford from Theatre Workout Education spoke about Creative Careers, especially important for the Senior students and the ones taking the Razz Project Intense classes. Tarquin from Tarquin Talent Agency advised on children’s casting, which is significant for the many Razzamataz children performing in musical theatre shows and working in TV and film.
The franchisees own growth was supported with a workshop from Megan Clark who delivered Mindset is your Superpower and Forbes Coaches Council Member and Business Coach Adam Stott hosted a very popular talk on why Success in not a Secret.
New for 2022, Razzamataz offered a Business Review the day after the Conference with double British Franchise Association award winner Hayley Limpkin. This enabled the franchisees to create a solid plan of action and put into place all the learnings from the speakers.
“It was great to be back together, and the room was buzzing with ideas and energy that will significantly improve the experience for our students, in which there are more than 6,000 UK wide,” adds Denise. “The Business Review allowed the franchisees the opportunity to consolidate all they have learnt and leave with a solid plan of action.”
Razzamataz reviews
Debbi Ledwith, franchisee Razzamataz Newbury:
“The Business and Management Review with Hayley was so useful! At the start of the session, I had lists of goals that I had prepared, but no clear idea of how to tackle them. At the end of the day, I had a very clear task list, in manageable sections, and I can’t wait to get home and get started on it.”
Victoria Cooper-Jones, franchisee Razzamataz Belsize Park:
“Thank you for another fantastic session Head Office. The Business Review had seemed incredibly daunting but with Hayley breaking it down into chunks and explaining it so clearly it has left me feeling energised and feeling that my dream goals are achievable and well within my reach.”
Andrea White, franchisee Razzamataz Bognor Regis and Hornchurch:
“Thank you for the Business and Management Review with Hayley. It was such an informative day and was held within such a safe, non-judgemental space. We all shared common experiences and needs, and it was so useful because I now have a very clear task list and not a tick list, meaning I now have a clear idea of how to handle those tasks and it is not just a case of filling in boxes.”
Marc Kelly franchisee Razzamataz Hackney and Radlett:
“Thank you so much for organising a wonderful conference. As always very motivational. The best thing about it is being able to share ideas with the network. I think that is what all of us took away from this, that we are stronger together.”

- Adam’s section was very useful. He seemed to talk business in a down to earth, simple way. Just what I needed.
- The energy and power of all pulling in the same direction in the same room. Loved the mix of topics in the afternoon.
- Meeting the other franchisees and being able to share ideas and best practises
