The pandemic has put health and wellness to the front of many people’s minds. Creating happiness and harmony at work is often the key to living a good life, which is why a theatre school franchise addressed all of these needs at their recent Regional meeting.
Razzamataz Theatre Schools has always put people and family first, but now this is more important than ever before. The theme for their meeting focussed on helping franchisees create the business that best supports their lifestyle and their needs.
“Business is a marathon, not a sprint and everyone should be allowed to progress at their own rate,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz Theatre Schools. “We support every franchisee along their journey and ensure they understand that they are enough and have the right to grow at the rate that best suits where they are at in life.”
Razzamataz is a network of more than 50 franchise schools. Some franchisees choose to run their school alongside other commitments, while others have huge businesses of more than 600 students and have a team of staff to help manage it.
“The great thing about a Razzamataz franchise is its flexibility,” explains Denise. “The business model gives a huge amount of creative control to the franchisee although we have the structures and systems in place to guide each person through the different parts of running a business to ensure success.”
An example of success from a franchisee with no previous business experience includes Asha Richardson, the franchisee of Razzamataz North Lakes who has had an 800% growth during the pandemic. During the Regional meeting, Asha shared her story about how she has grown and how she has been supported by the Razzamataz Head Office.
Asha was just one of the franchisees who joined the network and launched during the pandemic. Despite the restrictions of the lockdowns, there has been a huge internal growth over the last two years and a huge demand for the unique service that Razzamataz offers customers.
Just one of the standout services that Razzamataz offers is their classes which create ‘triple threat’ performers in both traditional musical theatre and commercial genres. This is further enhanced by the unique Razzamataz Project Intense curriculum that supports children who wish to pursue performing arts professionally.
Ultimately, however, our aims are to educate and motivate to create confident, fit young people who can take that confidence into any walk of life and any career path.
A new and incredibly exciting initiative is the plans for the Razzamataz Teacher Training Academy for the next generation of entrepreneurs. This will enable franchisees to nurture, mentor, support and grow their teams of students and staff to give them opportunities to run their own theatre school. There is already a tradition of teachers and even students joining as franchisees, so the new Academy will look to support this even further.
Leading franchise specialist Suzie McCafferty hosted the Regional meeting and offered her insights into data driven decisions, which help to grow a business. With many of the Razzamataz franchisees sharing their stories of success and growth, the focus was on how to combine being a business leader with looking after your wellbeing.
Razzamataz invited coach Brian Costello from HeadStrong to talk to franchisees about how they can ensure they are looking after their own mental health while growing their business, supporting their teams and offering the best experiences to their students.
Looking to the future
There’s a number of exciting events happening for Razzamataz, kicking off with the Head Office team attending the Royal Variety Show in November, having been invited as industry leaders. The show will be hosted by comedian Alan Carr and will feature a huge array of stars.
The franchise network is also gearing up for their annual Conference in February 2022 at the Prince of Wales Theatre as well as joining up with another award-wining franchisor, Action Coach, for a business review for each franchisee.
For students, Razzamataz is delighted to be bringing back live performing events with a huge gala performance in the Shaftesbury Theatre where Razzamataz students will perform on the West End stage in December 2022.
