Life is for living

Life is short. I lost my dad very suddenly when I was only 19 to brain cancer and there is nothing in this world that stops me making the most of life. Sometimes my load is heavy but there is always a way. Doing something I enjoy is so important, which is why I don’t live to work, I work to live and that’s a saying my dad always ingrained in me.

Believe in yourself

My dad worked away from home week to week to provide, to give my sister and I the best education, the best opportunities in life to be anything, to do anything and for that I feel so grateful. I know I can do anything I put my mind to and it’s that determination from my dad that lives on in me.

Being a parent and a business owner

Razzamataz gives me the opportunity to be with my children every day, but also to challenge my brain, my worth and to separate from the ‘mum’ title. I love being a mum, clearly, I have five children, but I also like being ’something’ a ’someone’ and using the skills and experience that I have acquired over the years.

Role modelling

I also like my children to see I work outside of the home. The juggle is real most the time but it’s so worth it. They know how much I love my Razzamataz schools and having my girls as part of that, attending classes weekly, is just an added bonus. I know how fortunate I am.

Making it work

I own my own business, I do a job I adore, and I have five beautiful children I get to be with every day. There are times I have a meeting in the holidays, but we make it work. It was only last Friday I had a zoom meeting with Head Office, so to ensure they still had a good day during the school holidays, I packed my laptop and headed to the park. I parked up at a bench whilst they played and had fun meanwhile I ‘worked’ looking on at them. It’s magic! I have danced pretty much my entire life, I dreamt of owning my own school, I reached that dream and know how lucky I am. It doesn’t come easy but it’s worth every minute of it.

Visibility of mums in business

I love being part of the Razzamataz network and seeing other mums and dads succeeding. Being part of a network means we are never alone and together we all bring different skillsets to the table. An accountant, a mum, a dancer, a nurse, so many amazing experiences and skills that we can share and utilise to learn together.
