Exciting mentoring announced for Principals

Just before the pandemic gripped the world, a Dragons’ Den backed theatre school franchise was preparing for a programme of support mentoring. With restrictions now lifted and just over 18 months later, the Growth Hubs intensive training course has been announced.

Razzamataz Theatre Schools has been operating for more than 21 years and is at a stage where franchisees will be at different life cycles and support and training should be adapted to maximise its value for each franchisee. Multi-award winning Razzamataz is delighted to welcome another multi-award winning franchisor, Action Coach, to deliver the 90-Day Planning Course.

Recovery from the pandemic
“This has been intended for a very long time so we are delighted to see it come to fruition,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz Theatre Schools. “It forms part of our recovery plan for any lost business during the lockdowns and ensuring our franchisees have all the skills and tools they need to continue to build their own businesses.”

The Action Coach mentoring is part of Razzamataz’s Regional Meeting offering in November, focussing on reviewing the last 18 months and growth for the year ahead. The Action Coach training starts with a six-week intensive course for all franchisees in their Growth Hubs and will be run live via Zoom led by coach Pauline Wright, who has 21 years’ experience in the sector.

Razzamataz Growth Hubs
Each franchisee will be allocated a Growth Hub so the training is pitched right for their experience. The course will cover everything from how to grow your business, marketing, retention, leadership, financials, goal setting, delegating, mind-set coaching and much more. For the more experienced franchisees, they will be working on the Mastery course and looking at understanding your niche, how to gain more leverage, recruiting and retaining team members and how to create a business with synergy.

Franchisees will be able to spend the time focussing on their business, rather than working in their business and identify the areas in which they are lacking and need further support.

Razzamataz Reconnecting Rainbow
For the first time ever, Razzamataz are also delighted to announce they are hosting a two day Conference in February 2022 called Razzamataz Reconnecting Rainbow, held at the Prince of Wales Theatre in the heart of London’s theatreland.

Expert speakers will be talking about how to reconnect with each other, teams, students, parents as well as covering the important topics of mental health and wellbeing for students. There will also be the annual business review, Awards for every Principal and a theatre show in the evening.

Guest speakers include Tarquin Shaw-Young (F.E.A.A), an experienced agent and casting director who will explain how castings have changed since the pandemic and how franchisees can best equip students for these new changes such as the increase in self-tap auditions.

Theatre Workout Education will also be educating franchisees to support their students who wish to pursue performing arts as a career. Not only will franchisees be able to support students with access to Razzamataz’s Future Fund charity, which provides financial assistance for students going to college, they will also be able to advise them and their families on the best steps to take for a career in the industry.

In terms of mental health and wellbeing, Razzamataz has engaged two experts to specifically speak on these topics. Open Theatre will be advising franchisees on the best way to support and fully include SEND students and Headstrong has once again been engaged to ensure our franchisees are equipped to support students, teams and look after their own wellbeing. Throughout the pandemic, Razzamataz has worked with experts to do all they can to look after franchisees mental health needs.

Business support
After the Conference, the following day has been set aside for further business mentoring. Each franchisee has the opportunity to review their business with a member of the Head Office team. The session will be led by Hayley Limpkin, franchisee of Razzamataz Medway and double bfa award winner. Razzamataz Medway is one of the network’s flagship schools with approximately 600 students, many of who go on to perform at a professional level, including on London’s West End stage.

“It’s been a challenging time for the arts and face to face business and although we were able to pivot successfully online, we still do not underestimate the impact that the pandemic had on all of our schools,” adds Denise. “I believe that it is crucial that we invest in our franchisees to ensure that they are exactly where they need to be for their business and can reach their growth goals. We pride ourselves on the training and support that we offer, not just for new franchisees launching their schools, but continuously to mentor every Principal during whatever stage they are in their business.”
