Running a successful theatre school takes creativity and a passion for performing arts but it also needs strong business skills. With the world of marketing and social media constantly evolving, many theatre school owners could get left behind. That’s not the case for theatre school owners at Razzamataz, a Dragons’ Den backed franchise that puts training and support at the forefront of everything that they do.

With more than 22 years’ experience in the industry, Razzamataz has constantly grown as a franchisor, largely due to the investment in training and support that the company provides.

Award-winning host
A recent example of this is the company’s national online meeting, hosted by Suzie McCafferty, QFP and CEO of award-winning franchising consultancy Platinum Wave. It sounds strange but even when you are at the very start of your franchise journey, you should be thinking about your exit strategy. That is why Suzie’s session included planning for growth, planning for succession and contingency planning and future exit strategy. A well-known personality in the franchising world, Suzie has been a regular judge of the bfa / HSBC British Franchise Awards and is the longstanding Chairperson of the bfa’s Regional Franchise Forum & EWIF Scotland.

Forbes International Business Coach

If you want to be successful in business, you need a hugely influential coach and mentor, and ensure that you never stop learning. Working with top level business coaches would normally be out of the question for most independent theatre school owners, so we were delighted to welcome Big Business Events Founder and Forbes International Business Coach Adam Stott as the opening speaker. Adam is one of the UK’s leading experts on monetising social media and he is a prolific speaker and growing media personality.

“I’ve been working with Adam for the last year personally and he also attended our Conference last year,” says Denise Hutton-Gosney, MD and Founder of Razzamataz. “He is highly respected in the business community and brings in a wealth of experience that is hugely beneficial to our franchise partners.”

Creativity in business

Although Razzamataz is a highly successful franchisor, at the heart of the company is ensuring that the schools are doing the very best for the students as well as giving franchise partners opportunity to upsell different products. Emily Conor, Razzamataz Creative Coach gave her experience with Razz Project Intense and how successful it has been not only for the overall enjoyment of the students, but also from a financial perspective.

Baffled by social media?

Running your own business means that you need to wear many different hats, particularly in terms of marketing and social media. Many people are baffled by social media and don’t understand how to properly utilise it for their dance or theatre school. Jennifer Randall, social media strategist, was part of the national meeting to talk all things social media marketing and how to use it to grow a theatre school.

Hear from our Principals

The response from our franchise partners has been overwhelmingly positive. Feedback shows that the commitment from Head Office in ensuring that Principals feel supported and have access to the best training gives them confidence to build the business of their dreams.

“We had fantastic online training and sharing in our Razzamataz network,” says Michaela Crumpton, Principal of Razzamataz Bristol North and Bristol South. “Our Head Office work so hard to make sure we have the tools we need. I really couldn’t do this without their support. I can’t recommend being a franchisee with Razzamataz enough.”

Job opportunities

There are approximately 60 schools throughout the UK with many job opportunities available from assistants to teachers and staff members. Many of our current franchisees started out in this way and have progressed through the ranks. To further support those with the ambition to open their own Razzamataz school, the team has launched the Razzamataz Training Academy, a platform that will revolutionise the ongoing development of staff. Upon completion of the course, available free of charge to all Razzamataz staff for a limited period, each teacher will receive a diploma that is recognised throughout the network.
