A business for any age at any stage

Whether you are looking to launch your first business, or are an experienced professional looking for a career change, a franchise opportunity is available that offers all the support you need whatever stage of life you are at. Razzamataz franchise opportunities are truly a business for any age at any stage.

Razzamataz Theatre Schools is a part-time performing arts franchise that attracts franchisees from all walks of life. The only thing they need in common is a strong commitment to the performing arts, a love of inspiring young people and a positive attitude towards running their own business.

Lyndsey Winstanley, age 37, was a full time teacher and it was on a holiday to Tunisia where she first got the idea of changing careers. “My daughter attended the Razzamataz summer stage academy at the First Choice Holiday Village we were at, which was the first time I had heard about Razzamataz,” explains Lyndsey. “Although I’ve never ran my own business before, it was something that I was always interested in.”

Although Lyndsey doesn’t have a background in performing, she taught dance, singing and drama as part of the curriculum at school and also put on end of term shows.

Once she learned more about what Razzamataz could offer, she was very eager to explore the options and was keen to have the flexibility that becoming a franchisee could offer to allow her to spend more time with her family. Lyndsey took out a business loan to finance buying Razzamataz Theatre Schools Liverpool South that she launched in September 2015.

Not having run a business before, everything has been a steep learning curve although she has had a huge amount of support from Head Office. “The support manager is only a call away if you need advice and the other franchisees are very helpful,” says Lyndsey. “Having limited business experience means that the advice has been invaluable.

“Be prepared to work hard and put in long hours, especially during the run up to the launch. You really get out what you put in.”

Frances Nicholson, age 21 has recently taken over Razzamataz Theatre Schools Hampstead. Although she has only recently graduated from the Guildford School of Acting, she has a wealth of performing arts experience and combines being the new Principal with performing professionally.

“I’ve always wanted to run my own business and started to look into franchises,” explains Frances. “I saw an advert for Razzamataz and that was the first time I had thought about a theatre school franchise.”

Not having run a business before, the structure and sound training in every element of running a theatre school that the Head Office offered was very important to Frances. “The support from the other franchisees has really helped too,” says Frances. “Having them to help and guide you along the way is very important. They have been through what you are doing and they know what works and what doesn’t.”

Working with the students is something that Frances is extremely excited about. “The best thing about being a Razzamataz Principal is getting to know the children and working with them, watching them grow in confidence and making new friends. I hope that I as a Principal can pass on my knowledge of the Industry and guide them to be the best performers they can be.”

Like every new business, facing up to the competition is something that Frances is aware of although this hasn’t deterred here. “In London, you could be sharing the same venue as another theatre school. As a re-launch school I also have the challenges of getting to know the staff and establishing how I would like the school to run. But I see these as opportunities to show how I will develop and improve the school and I’m excited to put my own mark on it.”

If you want to make 2015 the year you launch your own business with lots of support, make an appointment to come along to one of our regular but informal Discovery Den days in London, Carlisle, Glasgow or Sheffield to find out more about this exciting and flexible business opportunity.
